Jerry Blankson was born in James Town (Ga) English, Central Accra, Ghana. Jerry took an interest in Art at a young age. He drew and copied pictures of cowboys from comic books and was sketching accurately by the age of six. At 16 years of age, Jerry attended Kinbu Technical College and furthered his education at OIC Arts training college and Ghanatta College of Art and Design in Accra, Ghana. As a young artist, Jerry worked with five top advertising companies in Ghana and became particularly interested in figure painting. Then he relocated to Lagos, Nigeria for some years. It was during his time in Lagos that Jerry developed his style in mixed media and subsequently had his first exhibition of paintings Called Craft Heritage with a group of local artists. Back to his mother land in Ghana he also worked as a figure painter/graphic designer with an awarded advertising company ADS Limited in Accra
His exhibits in London include: Alexandra Galleries, The Synergy centre, Synergy project at the Seone Club V&A museum, Maritime museum, Green close studio and Creative Camberwell.
Jerry says,’ My paintings for me represent my cultural heritage, the colourful sights and sounds of Ga Mashie and stimulate feelings of peace, unity and love within the viewer'.
